(This picture keeps getting kinja’d and cut in half, but its supposed to depict some sort of sweaty print on my car’s hood, hopefully from a hand rather than a butt or other body part.)
My place of employment is not in a bad neighborhood, but since April every Saturday night a huge group of high school age kids have started passing through our parking lot to get from the movie theatre to the Whataburger. After several fights broke out, we have started having an off duty cop spend the evening from 6pm to midnight camping around our store, just in case there’s trouble, but they haven’t been able to make them go away.
Anyway, I bought a brand new 2015 Sentra 6-speed three days ago, and last night I had to work until 11pm. My manager had previously told us we can’t move our cars up despite this ongoing issue because that would impede on customer parking.
Well, last night, while I was in the cash office oblivious to the outside world, everyone else moved their cars to nearer the front doors of the store. When the kids passed through, my poor Sentra was the only one back there. Not only did they circle it, they sat on it and leaned on it.
But, you say, there was a cop there, right — ? Yeah, and more cops showed up, to interrogate them. WHILE THEY SAT ON MY CAR.
All I could do was watch from the front doors with my manager as my car with 170 miles on it was being abused. To top it off, all he said to me after I protested that I’d just bought the car, was “you should have parked closer”.
I wanted to cry.

Kids were probably fooling around, someone got pushed and fell on your car.

I could see them. they were quite comfortably perched on the hood and leaning against the front fenders.

Ouch, sorry to hear. But just so you know, not all high schoolers are like these dipshits.
I would’ve gone ballistic on their ass for sitting on my 11 year old car...

Apologies missed that part in the post.

A print? So, as in a smudge? Not a dent? Dude. Chill. So someone’s clothed ass was on your car? So what? Hose the print off during your car’s next wash.
I mean, I know our cars are our babies, but someone leaning up against it damaged nothing but your pride. You gonna get upset if an outdoor cat leaves paw prints on the windshield? What about when it inevitably gets dinged by a shopping cart?
Go over to that whataburger, order an A-1 thick and hearty burger, or a number 1 all the way and enjoy your new vehicle. It was literally made to be outside.

This is one of the reasons why a cheap used car is better than a new car.
If someone sits on my car, it’s no big deal since I bought it used, it was relatively cheap and already has some blemishes.

I wasn’t implying that all high schoolers do this, just that all of the kids involved were in high school. They’re a known group, there’s just too many of them to control.

I understand that it didn’t leave permanent damage but it was more the complete disrespect for my property that bothered me. If it had been my 11 year old Volvo I just sold for this car I would have been just as upset, and that had all kinds of dents and scratches. It happens. But their behavior didn’t need to.

Ok. I’m a little sensitive to generalizations. I’m in high school, and all I hear about during Drug assemblies is “How to do it”, and how “Everybody does it”. (The consequences part usually lasts the last 5 minutes)
Don’t get me started on texting and driving assemblies....
